Department of the Vitreoretinal Surgery
According to the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) over 15 mln blind people are annually registered among those with diabetes.
Considering the significant social importance of prophylaxis and treatment of ocular complications of sugar diabetes the new structural subdivision the Department of vitreoretinal surgery «Eye Diabetes» - has been established at the Krasnodar Branch of IRTC «Eye Microsurgery».
Its objective is to render high quality surgical care not only to diabetic patients.
Other severe ocular pathologies are treated here: retina exfoliation, ocular traumas, hemorrhage into the ocular cavity of different etiology, inflammatory diseases and consequences of unsuccessful previous operations; original procedures of plastic surgery in cases of loss of the eyeball, etc.
Individual approach in treating patients is provided by the joint checkup of the vitreoretinal surgeon, surgeon of the laser department, endocrinologist and anesthetist. If necessary, the carbohydrate metabolism is corrected.
We propose to begin the treatment in the period when the sight is at the high level and the retina is not severely affected.
The Department possesses the necessary complex of technological equipment to conduct the most complicated operations on the highest level.
