Depending on diagnosis the treatment might require using different methods: conservative, surgical or their different combinations.
In our Clinic conservative therapy is widely and successfully used for treatment of children who suffer from amblyopia, habitual excessive accommodation, progressive myopia, dysfunction of binocular vision and heterotropia. Usually first course of therapy children take in the Clinic (out-patient attendance), the following courses are usually taken at home with the help of special programs. Check-ups are provided.
We draw parents’ attention that efficiency of treatment from amblyopia or heterotropia very much depends on how early you consult the doctor. If you start treatment as early as possible, you will have more chances to prevent necessity of surgical treatment in the future.
Computer procedures are one of the most efficient methods of treatment for these diseases. After diagnostics doctor will choose a special program for a child that is suitable for detected pathology. Work with this program develops and stimulates the function of cortical part of visual analyzer which in the end leads to the positive result.
During the course (course usually consists of 10 lessons) a child becomes familiar with the program, and then parents can arrange the training course at home. All you need for this course is a personal computer.
Every step of exercises improves visual acuity for 1-2 lines. Then children go through diagnostics one more time and if necessary they are given a new complex of exercises. Constant work can lead to full recovery of poor vision or heterotropia, or make their further treatment much easier.
Surgical treatment is multifunctional and is performed at world class level. Effective operations are done on eyelids, oculomotor muscles and lacrimal tracts, also in cases of progressive myopia and if there are some new formations on the surface of eye ball.
Surgery is done when children have glaucoma, cataract or retinal detachment.
After the treatment is finished specialists continue to look after the patient and evaluate the results of the treatment. Course of treatment can be corrected if it is necessary.
